- Newspaper Obituary - August 3, 1893 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Orwell - The funeral services of Mr. Horace Parker were held at his late residence last Sunday at 2 p.m. They were conducted by Rev. Mr. Emonds of Pulaski, assisted by Rev. W. H. Jago. Mr. Parker was sick but a few days and the news of his death was a sad surprise to all. He was and old resident of the town, having always lived here within a short distance of the place where he was born. He was a good neighbor, a kind and considerate husband, and a loving father. He was a member of the Congregational church and a Christian. He will long be missed by the community and his loss to his family is irreparable. His age was 60 years. He leaves a wife and one child, Mrs. Orville Stowell. His only sister, Mrs. Church, and husband, of North Carolina, arrived in time to attend his funeral.
Horace moved to Orwell, Oswego Co., NY from Oneida Co., NY with his parents in 1834.
Married Helen Burkett on 8 Apr 1856.
Civil War: Horace Parker age 28, enlisted 1 Aug 1862 in Orwell to serve 3 years as a private in Co. C 110th Infantry. Mustered in on 25 Aug 1863, discharged 27 Jun 1863 for disability at US Barracks Hospital, New Orleans, LA.
