- James Raymond SWITZER, 79, of 229 Duham Road, Martville (NY), died Monday, August 12 2002 at home after a long fight with cancer.
He was born in Hamilton, NY. He was a self-employed automobile mechanic and parts dealer and had also operated a small-equipment and repair business.
His wife, the former, June Patricia Strong died May 13, 2000; a son Glenn Frederick Switzer, died March 24,1957.
Surviving are four daughters, Judy HALSTEAD of Littleton, NH; Linda DANO of Pulaski, NY; Karen COOLER of Summerville, SC; and Ellen WEAVER of Moncks Corner, SC; Eight sons Jimmy SWITZER of Central Square, NY; Frank SWITZER of Syracuse, NY; Danny SWITZER of Illion, NY; Steven SWITZER of Beaufort, SC; David BACKUS of Horseheads, NY; Charles SWITZER of Pulaski, NY; Jack SWITZER of Greene, NY; and Earl SWITZER of Whitney Point, NY; several sisters and brothers; 47 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.
There were no calling hours. Burial was in King Ferry Cemetery officiated by son Jack SWITZER.
Burial services were attended by his two sister-in-laws, Bob & Mona VIBBERT of Fairport, NY, and Freda MILLSPAUGH & Dominick Giambo, one brother-in-law, John X. COOK of Syracuse, NY, ten children, Linda DANO and Charles & Wendy SWITZER of Pulaski, David & Donna BACKUS of Horseheads, Karen COOLER of Summerville, SC, Earl SWITZER of Whitney Point, Frank SWITZER of Syracuse, Steven SWITZER of Beaufort, SC, James SWITZER of Central Square, Jack & Celia SWITZER of Greene, and Mr. & Mrs. Stella (unknown) of Wolcott, NY, fourteen grandchildren, Mark & Felicia GEER of Sandy Creek, Crystal DANO and Jay DANO & Desiree Harper of Pulaski, Johnathan COOLER and Timothy COOLER of Summerville, SC, Breanna SWITZER of Whitney Point, Frank SWITZER Junior of Syracuse, Ray SWITZER and Michelle SWITZER of Brewerton, Lori MCNITT of Syracuse, Glenn Carley & Loren (Unknown) of Australia, Sarah Carley, June SWITZER and Amanda SWITZER of Greene, five great-grandchildren,Brittney SLATER of Horseheads, Chyanna LACELLE of Pulaski, Cerenity GEER and Andrea GEER of Sandy Creek, and Taylor Carley of Greene, and friends were Mary Lovejoy and Ohenry Lovejoy of Hannibal, Howard & Elaine Carry of Fulton, Ashley and Kara Moyer of Syracuse, and Jeff (unknown) of Syracuse.
