Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, September 30, 1886 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Charles Pratt, a farmer living about 5 miles northwest of this village, died very suddenly on Friday last. On the morning of that day he took his milk to the cheese factory, appearing to be in usual health, the horse returned to his home with the wagon but without a driver. Search was at once made, and the dead body of Mr. Pratt was found on the grass by the roadside not far from the house and within the limits of his own farm. Death had resulted from apoplexy, and the body was not bruised or injured by the fall from the wagon. Mr. Hilliker and Mrs. Balsley, who live some distance from the Pratt farm, observed that Mr. Pratt, as he passed their houses at a rapid rate, was leaning forward in an unnatural position, supporting his body on his elbows, and the former also noticed a discoloration of the face. Mr. Pratt had previously suffered two shocks of apoplexy, one about fifteen and the other seven or eight years ago. Mr. Pratt has been well known in this village and town for many years as a genial and sociable gentleman of strict integrity of character.
