      Newspaper Obituary - Saturday, April 21, 1917 Oswego Daily Times - Oswego, New York - Pulaski, April 21 - Purly L. Hardy Dead - Retired Farmer, Sailed Lakes in His Younger Days - Purly L. Hardy, for many years a successful farmer in the western section of this town and who had been a resident of this village for some time, passed away yesterday afternoon at the residence of his son, Claude F. Hardy, No. 4 Post street, following a short illness. He was stricken with pneumonia recently, but his health for some time past had not been of the best. Mr. Hardy was born January 22, 1840, at Port Ontario, where he followed farming for many years, retiring about eighteen months ago. He sailed the Great Lakes when a young man, but had throughout his entire life been a resident of this town. Mr. Hardy was a member of Lake Ontario Association No. 794, Patrons of Industry. His wife died several years ago. Besides the son mentioned another son, Fred P. Hardy, lives in Erie street. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Andrew Smith of Port Ontario, and Mrs. H. F. Graves of Parish. The funeral will be held at Bethel church, Port Ontario, tomorrow at 2 p.m., following a short service at the Hardy home in Port street, where friends may view the body tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Rev. E. A. Rogers, pastor of the First Baptist church, will officiate.

      Newspaper Obituary - April 25, 1917 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Port Ontario District - Parley L. Hardy passed away Friday at the home of his son, Claude, at Pulaski after several weeks of illness with pneumonia. He was a life member of this place and will be greatly missed by his neighbors and friends who had always known him. He was 77. His wife died four years ago. He leaves two sons, Fred P. and Claude F., two sisters, Mrs. Maria Smith of this place, and Mrs. Jane Graves of Parish, to mourn his loss.
