    • Newspaper Article - Thursday, December 31, 1885 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Boylston - On Wednesday evening, December 16th, about sixty of the friends and relatives of Philando Delong were invited to his home to witness the marriage of his only daughter, Alice, to Mr. Edward Mead, of this town.     • Illness Fatal Howard B. DeLong

      Howard Burton DeLong, 72, died Wednesday night, March 19, 1958 in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where he had been, a patient two weeks with pneumonia.

      His funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Weston & Woodard funeral home in Sandy Creek, the Rev. Robert W. Vining, pastor of the Sandy Creek Baptist church, officiating Burial was in Wesleyan Cemetery.

      Mr DeLong was born June 16, 1885 in the Town of Boylston. He was the son of the late Mr and Mrs Philando DeLong. He attended the local tschools and from January 24, 1906 to March 2, 1910 served in the Marine Corps, being stationed in the Philippines and later in Japan.

      Lived on Lake Road

      He married Miss Blanche Crocker of Orwell on June 13, 1913 a Sandy Creek. They lived for a short time in Cleveland, Ohio, but for most of their life at their farm on the Lake Road. Mr. Delong was a carpenter and farmer.

      He was a member of the old Congregational church of Sandy Creek, a past master of the Sandy Creek Grange, a member of the Sandy Pond Sportsmens club, the Sandy Creek Fish and Game club, and the Cable Trail V.F.W Post 8534 of Lacona. Military services were conducted at the grave by Cable Trail firing squad.

      Surviving Mr. DeLong are his wife, Mrs. Blanche DeLong, three sons, Grant of Phoenix, Rex of Fulton and Glenn of Albany, nine grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Alice Mead, Richland, and nieces and nephews
