Military Service: Veteran of the Civil War; Enlisted August 6, 1862 at Pulaski, New York; Mustered in August 25, 1862 as a Private in Company B, 110th Regiment New York Volunteer Infantry; Mustered out August 28, 1865 with Company, with rank of Corporal. Son of David and Susannah Bennett Bentley. Husband of Frances Marshall Toombs Bentley. Married March 13, 1861 at Pulaski, New York.

      April 7, 1901 ~ Francis M. Bentley, age 61 years, 10 months, 18 days, Widower, Carpenter, born in New York, Son of David Bentley born in New York, and Susan Bennett born in New York, Died in Pulaski of disease of the liver, stomach and bowels.

      Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, April 17, 1901 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - After months of suffering Mr. Frank M. Bentley died at his home in this village, Saturday morning. Mr. Bentley was born in the old Bentley home on North street, in this village, and has always resided here. August 6, 1862, he enlisted in Co. B., of the 110th regiment, New York Volunteer Infantry and was mustered out as Corporal, August 28, 1865. He belonged to the 19th army corps. He returned to this village and has spent most of his life here. At the time of his death he was a member of J. B. Butler Post, G. A. R. and President of the Reunion Association of Co. B. of the 110th, which meets in this village every 14th of June. His death occurred just nine years to a day after the death of his wife. He is survived by two sons, Dr. George D. Bentley, of Chicago, and Dr. H. M. Bentley, of Sterling, Kansas. Mr. Bentley was a regular attendance of the Congregational church and in social life made many friends. The funeral was held from his late residence, yesterday, at two o'clock, Rev. J . B. Felt officiating. J. B. Butler Post attended in a body and members of the relief corps were present to pay their last respects to the fallen comrade and friend.
