      Life Story for Rodger Vogt
      Morrisonville
      Rodger Martin Vogt, 91, of Banker Road, Morrisonville, passed away on Sunday August 9, 2015 at the UVM Medical Center- CVPH. He was born in LaFargeville, NY on November 24,1923 the son of the late Jacob and Ruth (Ball) Vogt.
      Rodger graduated from LaFargeville High School in 1941 and joined the United States Marine Corps in 1942 and served with VMD154 Aerial Reconnaissance Squadron on Espiritu Santo Island in the South Pacific as an Aircraft Mechanic, serving his country during World War II. He was discharged at Vero Beach, Fl. as a Sergeant in 1946. He married Nellie Gale on October 18, 1947 in Watertown at the Lutheran Church. Rodger joined the N.Y.S. Police in 1953 serving throughout Troop “B” and retired in 1978 as a Sergeant Station Commander at Chazy. He enjoyed gardening, carpentry and ice fishing. Rodger was a Life member of the Marine Corps League, American Legion 1619, and VFW Post 309.
      Rodger was predeceased by his parents and a brother Robert Vogt.
      He is survived by his wife Nellie Vogt of Morrisonville, their children; Glen Vogt and his wife Barbara of Cape Vincent, John Vogt of Chazy and Susan Martin and her husband Warren of Keeseville, three grandchildren; Jamie Vogt, Emily Vogt and Jennifer (Ernie) Pichette, his siblings, Arlene McConnell of Richland, Anna Stackel of Watertown, and Leonard Vogt of Copenhagen, several nieces and nephews also survive him.
      Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, a funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Depauville Cemetery in Depauville, NY. Memorial donations may be offered to the Morrisonville EMS, Banker Road, Morrisonville, N.Y. 12962.
