      Newspaper Obituary - July 24, 1945 Oswego Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Sidney Ferguson Fatally Hurt In Arabia Accident - Employee of the Arabian-American Oil Company, Lived Near Pulaski - Mexico - Sidney Russell Ferguson, 36, son of Leslie Ferguson of Pulaski and the late Lydia Russell Ferguson, died in Saudi Arabia, on July 15, from shock as the result of an accident which occurred at 11:45 a.m. on July 14. His body was cremated on Bahrein Island, Persian Gulf, July 15, in the presence of fellow employees, with services conducted by an Army chaplain. Memorial services were held at Ta Nura, Saudi Arabia, on the afternoon of July 17, according to a telegram received by his sister, Mrs. Emily Parsons of Mexico. Sidney Ferguson was born December 17, 1909, at Daysville. He was a graduate of Pulaski Academy and [unreadable] school and spent the early years of his life on his father's farm near Pulaski. For several years he was associated with the G.L.F. Cooperative Service, Inc., and was assistant manager of the plant at Pulaski. He was also manager of the G.L.F. plant at Conewango for some time. In 1941 he went to Georgetown, British Guiana, where he spent 15 months working on the lend-lease air base there. Later he worked for Pan-American Airways and was stationed in Natal, Brazil, and Africa. In January, 1945, he sailed for Saudi Arabia where he was employed by the Bechtel-McCone Company and worked for Arabian-American Oil Company. Besides his father and sister, Mrs. Parsons, are three nieces, Catherine, Priscilla and Betsy Parsons, also of Mexico; his aunt, Mrs. Olive L. Burr of Bristol, Connecticut; an uncle, Vernon Ferguson of Wolcott, and several cousins.
