    • July 30, 1890 Helen M. Maltby, age 60 years, 3 months, 0 days, Married, born in Richland Township, Daughter of Simeon Doane and Joanna Weed, died in Pulaski of apoplexy.

Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, July 31, 1890 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - We are greatly saddened to learn that Mrs. A. H. Maltby died last night. The lady has had a severe stroke of paralysis. The afflicted husband heretofore bereft of his to idolize children, will have the sympathy of the entire community in this his deepest sorrow.

Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, August 6, 1890 Pulaski Democrat - Died July 30th in this village, Mrs. Helen M. Maltby, wife of A. H. Maltby, of paralysis, aged 60 years. The deceased was born on the 28th day of April, 1830, in this village. Her maiden name was Helen Marr Doane. Her childhood was spent in a peculiarly pleasant home in the care of religious and intelligent parents and in the companionship of affectionate and cultured sisters and a brother who held for a term the position of Clerk of the County. She was married at the age of 20, September 17, 1850 to the husband who survives her, to deeply mourn her irreparable loss. For nearly thirty years she has been a member of the Congregational church of this village, devoted and exemplary, having united on profession March 3rd, 1891. She was the mother of three children, none of whom survive her. The deceased possessed a disposition remarkable for its cheerfulness and equanimity, its calm patience and hopeful trust. She was epically devoted and faithful as a wife and mother in all her domestic duties and obligations; affectionate and sympathetic, epically kind and generous hearted to the poor. Much beloved in the circle of relatives and acquaintances with whom she was associated, she will be surely missed in these relations of friendship not only, but also at bedsides where she has so kindly ministered. She had had premonitions of her liability to some such sudden attack as terminated her life and with serene composure, trusting in Christ for a blessed immortality, she calmly awaited the end of her earthly life. The funeral services were held on last Friday afternoon in the Congregational church attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends. The sermon was preached by Rev. Dr. Douglas, her former pastor, assisted by Rev. Mr. Owen, pastor of the Baptist church and Rev. Mr. Paul, rector of the Episcopal church.
