Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, July 14, 1920 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Death of Mrs. Mary Donovan Who Lived to Be 93 ¬Sunday afternoon, at half-past one, death came and took one of the oldest persons in this town or in this part of the state, when Mrs. Mary Valliere Donovan passed from this into the eternal life. Mrs. Donovan was in fairly good health up to a week or more ago when, at the home of her son. John Donovan, of Richland, she was stricken with what seemed to be a shock, from which she never rallied. Mary Valliere Donovan was born in the Province of Ontario, near Kingston, May 22, 1827. She came to the United States in 1862, with her husband, John Donovan, who died sixteen years ago. They settled at New Centerville. Ten children were born to them. Mrs. Donovan's father was John Baptistie Valliere, of France and his father and two brothers were on Lafayette's staff when he came to America. Mrs. Donovan has been a wonder in her work, keeping active in domestic occupation and during the war did much Red Cross work. On her 92nd birthday she completed a piece of fine work with needle and embroidery thread which she presented the editor on his birthday, which was the same day as her birthday. She leaves seven children who are John Donovan, and Mrs. Alvin Tanner, of Richland; Daniel, of Camden; Mrs. Ellen Howe, of Texas; Mrs. Charles Kent, of Sandy Creek; Misses Anna and Marie V. Donovan, of New York. Funeral services will be held at the home this afternoon, at half-past one at the Disciple church, Richland, at two o'clock, standard time. Mr. B. G. Seamans, assisted by Rev. H. Knoell, will conduct the service.
