    • Clark E. Briggs, 91, of Utica, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at home with his family by his side. Mr. Briggs was born in Chicago, IL on November 19, 1921, the son of Ida Mae (Leidfeldt) and Charles M. Briggs. He moved to Rome, NY with his parents in 1929. He graduated from Rome Free Academy and was an alumnus of Clarkson College, Potsdam, NY. On September 16, 1944, he married Betty Mahaffy in Pulaski, a blessed union of 66 years prior to her passing on March 23, 2011. Mr. Briggs served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943 to 1946, serving in both the European and Pacific Theaters. He retired from General Electric in 1985 after 37 years, working in Syracuse, NY, Bridgeport, CT and lastly in Utica, NY. Mr. Briggs was a member of the New Hartford First United Methodist Church, Racket River Lodge #213 F & AM, Potsdam, and the Valley of Utica Scottish Rite Bodies. He served as an active member of the Ziyara Shrine Temple, serving as secretary and treasurer of the Director's Staff and the Unit Council. Mr. Briggs received a membership in the Grand Cross of Color of the Rainbow for Girls. He was also a member of the New Hartford Lions Club, Faxton Council, the Utica BPOE #33, Utica Curling Club, Skenandoa Club of Clinton, General Electric Quarter Century Club, Maennerchor Club, New Hartford Post 1376 American Legion, serving as adjutant for several years. Mr. Briggs is survived by a son, Daniel C. Briggs and his wife, Iris, Elbridge; two daughters, Nancy Lillibridge and her husband, David, Clinton and Patricia Davern and her husband, William, Camillus; grandchildren, Gregory, Julianna and Emily Lillibridge Shawn and Matthew Davern, Christopher and Erin Jones and Elicia Jones and great-granddaughter, Moryah. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Nunn & McGrath Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd., Utica. The New Hartford Post 1376 American Legion and the Masons will meet at the funeral home at 2:45 p.m. Funeral services will commence following visitation at 3 p.m. with Rev. Laurie Pauley officiating. Spring interment will be in Pulaski Cemetery. Remembrances in Clark's name may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. or Ziyara Patient Transportation Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The Brigg's family extends their gratitude to Dr. Butala, Dr. Dang and Dr. Silver, Hospice & Palliative Care and the Visiting Nurse Association for the care and compassion shown to Clark during his illness.
