    • Kasper S. Chvala, 81, of 15 Park St., died Monday at his home. Mr. Chvala was a ironworker employed by various construction companies. He was a member of Local 40 of the International Association of Bridge Structure and Ornamental Ironworkers. Born Jan. 8, 1920, in Zelienople, Pa., son of Stephen and Kathryn Stono Chvala, he was a 1937 graduate of Zelienople High School and served in the Navy from 1937 to 1940. He also served in the Merchant Marine from 1941 to 1945. He lived at Katonah, Oswego and Pittsburgh, Pa., before moving to Pulaski in 1987. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, a member of Pulaski Grange 730 and a past grand knight of Bernard Gregg Knights of Columbus Council 5605. Surviving are his wife of 28 years, the former Barbara Jodway Segretto; two daughters, June Chvala, Buffalo, and Michelle Chvala, Tucson, Ariz.; seven sons, Steve, Stafford, Ariz., Cyrus, Kenmore, Daniel, Panther Lake, James, Bakersfield, Calif., Richard, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., David, Ellisburg, and Michael, Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Anna Puskar, Hershey, Pa., and Josephine Linko, Baden, Pa., 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Mr. Chvala had been married previously. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. John the Evangelist Church. Entombment will be in St. Peter's Mausoleum, Oswego. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Foster-Hax Funeral Home.
