Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday, August 30, 1994 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Bradford D. Atkinson, Port Ontario, Dies - Bradford D. Atkinson, 68, of Hotchkiss Road, Port Ontario, died Monday at his home. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home with the Rev. Clay Berry, pastor of the Pulaski Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Daysville Cemetery, town of Richland. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Oswego County unit of the American Cancer Society. Surviving are his wife, Arlene V.; two daughters, Jane Shugdinis, West Pittston, and Lorrie Francis, Pulaski; a son, Kenneth N., Mexico; four grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Wadsworth, Pulaski, and a brother, Carl, Mannsville. Born November 14, 1926, in Pulaski, a son of John W. and Cassia Joyner Atkinson, he graduated from Pulaski Academy in 1945 and from Syracuse University. He also attended Oswego State University College. He married Arlene V. Nash on September 1, 1954. Mr. Atkinson retired in 1980 after 35 years of teaching. He taught English and music for 20 years in the Central Square School District. He also was employed for the past two years at Selkirk Shores State Park. He was a member of the Oswego County and New York State retired teachers associations and a former member of the Ontario Performing Arts Society.
