      HYDE PARK - Gloria Jean Pottenburgh, 78, a resident of Hyde Park and formerly of Rhinebeck, died Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck.
      Jean and her husband owned and operated C and P Construction for fifty years. She was also the office manager for Pottenburgh and Sons and the former Pottenburgh Market, both in Hyde Park.
      A lifelong area resident, she attended the Church of the Good Shepherd in Rhinebeck.
      Jean loved tending to her flower garden.
      Born in Rhinebeck on April 11, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Ruth Woster Briggs.
      On June 7, 1947 in Poughkeepsie, she married Donald F. Pottenburgh Sr. Mr. Pottenburgh survives at home.
      In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Donna Jean Hutchings and husband, Harold, of Poughkeepsie, Donald F. Pottenburgh Jr. of Hyde Park, and Michael F. Pottenburgh Jr. and wife, Jean, of Red Hook; her grandchildren, Donald F. Pottenburgh III, Richard A. Pottenburgh, Michael Pottenburgh Jr., Kimberly Hutchings, and Michele and Stephanie Pottenburgh; her great granddaughter, Emily Pottenburgh; her brother, John of Arizona; her sister, Cecilia of San Jose, CA; her step-brother, Larry Chorvas; and her many nieces and nephews.
      She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Briggs.
      Calling Hours will be from 4 to 7 Pm, Thursday, Sept. 27th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
      Funeral services will be at 10 am, Friday, Sept. 28th at the funeral home.
      Burial will follow in the family plot in Rhinebeck Cemetery.
      In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Reade Pl., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
