- Newspaper Obituary - May 25, 2011 Watertown Daily Times - MANNSVILLE/CAMDEN - Wilbur J. Chatterton, 93, of the Osceola Rd., Camden and formerly of the McDonald Hill Rd., Mannsville, passed away Monday evening, May 23rd in the intensive care unit at the Rome Memorial Hospital, Rome, NY. The funeral will be Friday, May 27th, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville with Rev. Linda Harris, pastor of the Three River Valley Parish officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Mannsville. Calling hours are Thursday, May 26th from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Maplewood Cemetery Association or to the Ellisburg United Methodist Church. He was born in Volney, April 8, 1918, a son of Frank A. and Lillian Petterson Chatterton. Wilbur married Helen Cobb November 21, 1940. Mr. Chatterton worked at Blount Lumber in Lacona for 34 years and operated a dairy farm on the McDonald Hill Rd., Mannsville which he and his wife established in 1946. He retired in the mid 1980's. Mrs. Chatterton passed away in Watertown, August 4, 2005. He married Elvera Corey, September 16, 2006. Wilbur was a member of the Ellisburg United Methodist Church, the Sandy Creek Grange, the Oswego County Fair Association and the Beach Creek Hunting Club in Smartville. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, and gardening. Besides his wife Elvera, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Floyd Creighton, Lorraine. Five sons, and their wives, Wilbur and Phoebie, John and Edith, all of Mannsville; Richard and Gayle, Ft. Worth, TX, Philip and Mary, Adams; Neil and Sharon, Parish. 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and one great great grandson and 5 step-children. A brother, Kenneth Chatterton, Mannsville. Many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Janice in 1964. Three brothers Carl, Frank and Warren, six sisters, Clarabell Nash, Ruth Brown, Dorothy Loomis, Mabel, Phyllis and Grace Chatterton also predeceased him.
