    • Elvira R. V. Hilton - May 29, 1879 - September 30, 1908. Daughter of Frank Jewell and Delilah Rowe Hilton.
Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, October 14, 1908 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Elvia R. V. Hilton - Elvia R. V., eldest daughter of Frank J. and Delilah Hilton, was born in Orwell, New York, May 29, 1879, and died of typhoid fever at Tupper Lake, Franklin County, New York, September 30, 1908, at 5 o'clock, a.m. In the afternoon of the same day brief funeral services were held in the Altamont Hotel, where Miss Hilton had been employed for the last four years. After the services the remains were brought to Orwell accompanied by her father, sisters and other friends who had so tenderly cared for all through her sickness and death. Friday a large number of relatives and friends assembled in the church to pay their last respects to one they had loved and lost - yet not lost, but gone before. Rev. M. H. Dowd, pastor of the M. E. church, spoke words of comfort and consolation to the bereaved ones from the words found in the 11th chapter and a part of the 25th verse of the gospel of John. She was then laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery by the side of her mother. The many beautiful flowers that covered the casket and were grouped about it spoke of the love and respect felt for the departed one. Truly those who knew her best loved her most. Long, long will we miss thee, dear Elvia, Long, long hours will we weep. Many nights of sorrow and waking, In memory of our loved one we keep. -A Friend.
