Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, May 15, 1907 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Mrs. Delila Hilton - Mrs. Delila Hilton, died at her home in the town of Orwell, county of Oswego, New York, April 28, 1907, aged 47 years, 9 months, 13 days. She was born in Brownville, Jefferson County, New York, July 15, 1859 and at the early age of 4 years was left without a mother. She being the youngest of a large family of children was cared for by her older brothers and sisters until she was old enough to care for herself, which she thus became at the age of 14 years, and continued until September 5, 1878, at which time, in the town of Sandy Creek, New York, she was united in marriage with Frank Jewell Hilton, who survives her. To this union was born two daughters, Elvia R. V., of Tupper Lake and Mary Hilton Newcombe, of Lacona, who with the father, mourns the death of a loving mother, and a faithful companion. She was more than an ordinary woman, and will be greatly missed by her many relatives and friends who realize her death with a deep regret. She was a kind and obliging neighbor and in the time of sickness or need was always ready and willing to render services to her ability. Her last illness was short, only three weeks and the spirit had returned to God who gave it. All that loving hands could do was done but, to no avail. Death loves a shining mark. Wednesday, May 1st her funeral was largely attended at the M. E. church at Orwell, where the Rev. Mr. Dowd, pastor of that charge, preached a very able and interesting sermon which was taken from the 5th to the 7th verses of the 12th chapter of Ecclesiastes after which she was laid to rest at the Evergreen Cemetery. We miss thee dear wife and mother, We miss thy tender care, We miss thee around the fireside, We miss thee everywhere.
