      Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, February 26, 1930 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Prominent Richland Man Passes - William H. Averill, 76, Dies After Two Weeks' Illness - William H. Averill, a life-long resident of Richland, died at his home in that place last Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock following an illness of about two weeks. Mr. Averill had been in failing health over a year. He was born in Richland October 23, 1853, son of Ephriam and Amanda Averill, and his entire life was lived in that community. He was a member of Pulaski Lodge No. 415, F. & A. M. For several years he had been engaged in the steel roofing business. He is survived by his widow, Birdella Magee Averill; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Leroy of Richland, and Mrs. D. E. Hulse of Rochester; two sisters, Miss Addie Averill and Mrs. Mattie Kenyon, who live in the Averill homestead at Richland; one brother, James B. Averill of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Also a grandson, Jack Le Roy, a granddaughter, Donna Anne Mattison. The funeral was held from the family home in Richland Friday afternoon, Rev. Charles Shumway, pastor of the Methodist church of Richland, officiating. The committal service was in charge of Pulaski Lodge No. 415 F. & A. M., Past Master S. R. Trumbull, acting as master. Burial was made in Richland cemetery.
