    • Newspaper Obituary - August 6, 2005 Watertown Daily Times - HELEN M. CHATTERTON - HOMEMAKER - Helen M. Chatterton, 89, of 710 McDonald Hill Road, died Thursday evening at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, where she was admitted July 22. Mrs. Chatterton was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, playing cards and baking. She was a 40-year member of Sandy Creek Grange and a member of Oswego County Fair Association, Farmers Social Card Club and Sandy Creek United Methodist Church and was active in 4-H. Born Jan. 26, 1916, in Pierrepont Manor, a daughter of Hubert H. and Ethelwyn Lyon Cobb, she attended grade school in the Hounsfield District and graduated in 1933 from Dexter High School. She married Wilbur J. Chatterton on Nov. 21, 1940, in North Pharsalia with Mr. Chatterton's brother, the Rev. Carl Chatterton, officiating. They moved to McDonald Hill Road in 1946 and established the Chatterton Homestead dairy farm. Surviving besides her husband are a daughter and her husband, Joyce and Floyd Creighton, Lorraine; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Wilbur T. and Phoebie, and John N., all of Mannsville, Richard and Gayle, Texas, Philip and Mary, Adams, and Neil and Sharon, Parish; a sister, Ann Sanderson, Tully; two brothers, Madison Cobb, Rays Bay, and David Cobb, Belleville; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A daughter, Janice, died in 1964. Two brothers, John and Hubert Cobb, also died before her. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with the Rev. Linda J. Harris, pastor of Sandy Creek and Ellisburg United Methodist churches, officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
