    • Newspaper Obituary - December 17, 2007 Post-Star - Glens Falls, New York - John A. Martin - QUEENSBURY John A. Martin, 87, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at the Glens Falls Hospital. Born on Sept. 20, 1920, in Huntington, Long Island, he was the son of the late Michael and Ane (Korordy) Marcinzin. On Jan. 11, 1947, John married Vernice Hines at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse, N.Y. Mr. Martin retired from Neles Jamesbury, formerly Kamyr, as Project Engineer and was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Glens Falls Council No. 194. John was deeply devoted to his family, family always came first. Taking long trips with them was a great enjoyment to him. He also loved his animals very much. He had many inventions and holds patents on paper machinery ball valves. Mr. Martin invented not for the sake of inventing, but often out of necessity for things. Carving small objects out of wood was another way he created. Mr. Martin had a knack for horticulture; he had the ability to splice fruit trees together, allowing the sickly ones to thrive. He also enjoyed sketching cartoon characters. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his brothers, Edward and Joseph Martin. Survivors besides his wife of 60 years include his sons: John Martin and his wife, Cindy; Thomas Martin and his wife, Patti; James Martin and his wife, Maureen; his grandchildren: Mollie and Adam Martin; Abby, Jarred M. and John Andrew Martin and James and Joseph Martin. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St., South Glens Falls. E-mail condolences may be sent at A celebration of John's life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at St. Mary's Church, 62 Warren St., Glens Falls. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, South Glens Falls. Donations may be made in Mr. Martin's memory to the Glens Falls Hospital Foundation, Attention Ray Agnew - ER Department, 12 Warren St., Glens Falls, NY 12801. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Glens Falls Hospital, especially to the ER and 4 West staff for going the extra mile for Mr. Martin. They would also like to thank the staff at the Stanton Nursing Home for all the care they gave John.
