Gladys N. Prouty Whaley, 88, Springbrook Apartments, died Tuesday at her home.
Mrs. Whaley had resided in Pulaski since 1960, previously living in Belleville for eight years and Smithville for several years. She had worked at Ezze Truck Stop in Parish, Oswego Hospital and Marty's Restaurant in Adams.
Born March 13, 1918, in Rodman, she was a daughter of Leon and Bertha Babbitt Prouty.
She married Lloyd Whaley on April 1, 1945, in Adams. He died Nov. 7, 1974.
She was a member of American Legion Post 358 Auxiliary, Pulaski, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7289 Auxiliary, Park United Methodist Church, and was an RSVP volunteer for Pulaski Senior Nutrition Site.
Surviving are three sons, Leon H., West Monroe, James D., Pulaski, and Dale L., Williamstown; three daughters, Monica Laney, Albany, Lucy Johnson, Syracuse, and Peggy Balcom, Pulaski; a sister, Patricia Ryder, Fayetteville, N.C., 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A son, David, died Oct. 2, 1964.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Park United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marilyn Stevens officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Pulaski Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home.
