Bruce R. Soule, 78, passed away quietly at his home on July 4th under the care of his family, friends and Oswego County Hospice.
He was born to Glen and Josephine Soule in Pulaski on July 20, 1930.
Bruce married the former Grace E. Gibbs on July 24, 1955 with the Rev. Pauley officiating in Pulaski. A devote father, grandfather and husband, his life pleasures were basically his family, his many friends acquired throughout his lifetime and his work. Upon his graduation in 1948 from Pulaski Academy Central School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp., being discharged with the rank of sergeant. For a short time, he was employed by the New York Central Railroad. In October of 1952 he was employed by Niagara Mohawk. He retired in October of 1994 after 42 years of service. At the time of his retirement he was line supervisor of the Pulaski office. His political career began as Town of Richland Republican committeeman and party chairman. He became Oswego County Legislator for the Town of Richland in 1971. He served from 1976 to 1993. Upon his retirement in 1993, Bruce had served 22 years with the county. He was a member of the Pulaski Congregation Church, the American Legion, the Sandy Pond Sportsman Club and an honorary member of the Ringgold Fire Department. Bruce was a past member of the Masonic Organizations and the shrine and also the JCC's. Bruce was also a past member of NOCA in Pulaski.
Surviving are his wife, Grace, of 53 years, and four children. Daughters, Susan (Paul) Mahaffy, Patti (Dave) Kingsley and Jeanne Soule. A son, Jim Soule, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, all of Pulaski. A brother, Fred Soule, Hernando, Fla. Bruce was predeceased by one brother, Loren Soule.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at the South Richland Cemetery with the Rev. James Tschudy, pastor of the Pulaski Congregational Church, officiating.
