George A. Flickinger, 73, a resident of Fairview Township, died Thursday evening in the Hospice Community Care in-patient unit at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Mountaintop, Dec. 30, 1928, he was the son of the late Crawford Flickinger and Pearl Richards Flickinger Cooksey.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, and, prior to retiring, in 1989, was a multiple crew foreman for the Pennsylvania Power and Light Co.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Mountaintop, Mountaintop Hose Co. No. 1, Coalville Lodge 474 Free and Accepted Masons, and the Square and Compass Club.
Surviving are his wife, of 47 years, the former Cordelia Search; daughters, Cordelia “Corey” Flickinger, Wayne, and Sharon Davis, Dallas; a son, George “Eddy” Flickinger, Lancaster; three grandchildren; and a stepsister, Arcilla Henning, White Haven.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the McCune Funeral Home Inc., 80 S. Mountain Boulevard, Mountaintop. The Rev. Mark C. Harper, pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Dallas, will officiate.
Interment will take place in Albert Cemetery, Wright Township.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Members of Coalville Lodge 474 F&AM will conduct Masonic services at 8 p.m.
