    • Newspaper Obituary - September 7, 1934 Wilkes-Barre Times Leader Evening News - Well Known Contractor Passes Away - Gethin Gibbon Dies at Hazle Street Home; Had Been Employed With County - Gethin Gibbon - Gethin Gibbon, 52, well known contractor and prominent in city politics for many years, died at 2:40 o'clock this morning at his home, 285 Hazle Street, following several month illness of complications. He was a member of the contracting firm of Gibbon and Kohl and for the last two years was employed as forman in the Luzerne County Department of roads and bridges. Mr. Gibbon served as committeeman in the Thirteenth Ward and was at one time a candidate for Wilkes-Barre School Director. Deceased was born in Pittsburgh in 1882, son of the late John C. Gibbon, a stone contractor. Mr. Gibbon moved to this city many years ago and since had been active in civic and political affairs. The contracting firm, with which he was identified, also enjoyed considerable success for a number of years. Mr. Gibbon was a member of First Baptist Church, Fidelity Lodge No. 655, F & A. M., Keystone Consistory and Order of Mystic Shrine. Surviving are his widow, the former Maude Sprake of Plymouth; two children, John and Laura; his mother, Mrs. John C. Gibbon, all at home. The funeral will take place on Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the late home. Rev. Gomer Evans of Bethel Baptist Church will officiate and interment will be in Nanticoke Cemetery.
