- Newspaper Obituary - May 28, 2002 Post-Standard - Russell Hill, 45, of Brewerton died Monday. He was born on the Onondaga Nation. He worked for Westcott Weatherization, Great Northern Mall, Syracuse Hancock International Airport and the state Department of Motor Vehicles and Thruway Authority. Survivors: His wife, Joanie; two stepsons, Scott Miller of Hastings and Eric Lewis of East Syracuse; his mother, Carol T. Hill of Nedrow; two sisters, Brenda Hill and Victoria Coons, both of Nedrow; three brothers, Lowell and Joseph, both of Nedrow, and Charles of Onondaga Nation; a granddaughter. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home. Burial, Onondaga Nation Cemetery. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 4612 S. Salina St., Syracuse. Russell Charles Hill, age 45, of Brewerton, New York, died Monday, May 27, 2002 at University Hospital, Syracuse, New York after a long illness. Mr. Hill was born May 22, 1957 in Syracuse, New York, the son of Charles R. and Carol (Thompson) Hill. He was a Native American from the Onondaga Nation. He was employed by several companies, including, Westcott Weatherization; Stonefield Maintenance, VIP Maintenance; The Great Northern Mall, Building Wide Maintenance; Halls Funeral Home, Price Chopper; Marshall’s, Central City Roofing; Fly Road Medical Center; Midstate Contracting; Ames Department Store; East Syracuse Bowling Alley; The Department of Motor Vehicles; The New York State Thruway Building; and the Hancock Airport. He attended the Wesleyan Church of Mallory, New York. He is survived by his wife, Joanie Hill of Brewerton, New York; two stepsons, Scott Miller of Hastings, New York and Eric Lewis of East Syracuse, New York; his mother, Carol Hill of Nedrow, New York; two sisters: Brenda Hill and Victoria Coons both of Nedrow, New York; three brothers: Lowell Hill and Joseph Hill both of Nedrow, New York, Charles Hill of Onondaga Nation; one step granddaughter, several brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral: Thursday, May 30, 2002, 11:00 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Clair Day officiating. Burial: Onondaga Nation Cemetery.
