    • Newspaper Obituary - Friday, May 15, 1970 - Rome Daily Sentinel - Robert Melf Dies After Brief Illness - Robert B. Melfi, 74, of Wood Creek Road, a former employe of Revere Copper and Brass Inc., died Thursday in Rome Hospital after a brief illness. Son of Pasquale and Elma Melfi, he was born Jan. 6, 1896, in Syracuse. He was a 1910 graduate of the Prescott School, Syracuse. He was twice married. In Syracuse he married Ada Meaker. On July 16, 1967, in the Town of Vienna, he married Frances Lighhall Page. A resident of Rome for the past three months, he had formerly lived in Sylvan Beach and prior to that in Oneida and Syracuse. He served in the Army in France during World War I. Prior to his retirement in 1962, he was employed by the Carrier Corp., Syracuse, and formerly by Revere Copper and Brass Inc. Mr. Melfi was a member of the American Legion. Surviving besides his wife, are a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Dorothea Frances) Dyer, Homer; four sons, Harold Melfi, Mattydale; Robert Melfi, Liverpool; Vincent Melfi, Boston, Mass., and William Melfi, Groton; eight grand-children and two step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 Monday at the Martin J. Nunn Funeral home with the Rev. Charles Sykes D.D., rector of Zion Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Saturday and Sunday.
