      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, June 3, 2010 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Sandy Creek - Sally V. Turo, age 85, of Sandy Creek, passed away June 1, 2010, at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown. Memorial Services will be held Saturday 1 p.m. at the Sandy Creek Town Hall on Harwood Dr. Burial at a later date in Richland Cemetery. Mrs. Turo donated her remains to the Anatomical Gift Program at Upstate Medical University. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Friendship Thrift Shoppe P.O. Box 166, Lacona, New York 13083 or The History Room at the Sandy Creek Town Hall. Arrangements are by Summerville Funeral Home Sandy Creek.
      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, June 3, 2010 The Post-Standard - Syracuse, New York - Sally V. Turo, age 85, of Sandy Creek, passed away June 1, 2010 at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown. Born July 6, 1924 in Greenfield, Iowa. Daughter of the late George and Mary Jane Shetterly Kerns. Moved to Richland in 1939. She married Paul C. Turo November 2, 1945. They lived in Sandy Creek since 1948. She graduated from Pulaski High School. She was a long time member of Sandy Creek United Methodist Church and her and her husband participated in the Half-Shire Historical Society. Her Husband died in 1987. Over the past 20 years she did volunteer work at Ainsworth Memorial, Friendship Thrift Shoppe, Sandy Creek Food Pantry and the History Room at the Town Hall. Survived by a daughter, Sharon Turo of Hartford, Connecticut; a son, George (Kathy), Turo of Troy, New York; two grandchildren, Eileen Turo and Kate Phillips; three great-grandchildren, Quinn, Caroline and Carter. She was predeceased by one sister and two brothers. Memorial services will be held June 5 at 1 p.m. at the Sandy Creek Town Hall on Harwood Dr. Burial at a later date in Richland Cemetery.
