The accident occurred about 6:15 p.m. as Mr. and Mrs. Caufield were crossing the highway to visit the home of neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. James Hamilton, not far distant. A car driven by Fred W. Upon investigation by Sergeant Larry Fox and Trooper John Metrzyk of the Pulaski substation, and C. J. Gorman, assistant district attorney, Miller was taken into custody and following a hearing before Judge D. Ward Howard, and ordered held for the May Grand Jury on a charge of manslaughter, second degree. Mrs. Caufield was born November 16, 1872, in Jefferson county, a daughter of James and Margaret Kelley. She married Fred Caufield May 26, 1892, and in 1909 came to Pulaski with her family to make their home.
