Military Service World War I: Enlisted March 8, 1917 at Ogdensburg, New York in Company D, 1st Division New York National Guard; Transferred to 107th Infantry, 27th Division; Transferred to Company H, 32nd Division, 127th Wisconsin Infantry United States Army; May 8, 1918 he arrived overseas aboard the USS Susquehanna; Was engaged in the Battle of Sissons; September 1, 1918 wounded in action by machine gun fire and was in the hospital until November 30, 1918; Honorably discharged July 14, 1919 with rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Son of George and Kathryn Rachel Woods Barr. Husband of Dora Lorena Colvin Barr. Married May 24, 1922.

      Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday, September 21, 1971 Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Pulaski - W. Taylor Barr, 80, of 7629 Niagara Street, Pulaski, died unexpectedly this morning at his home. He was born October 13, 1890, at Ogdensburg, New York, the son of George and Kathryn Woods Ban. He attended Ogdensburg schools and moved to Pulaski in 1915. He served during World War I in France and was discharged in 1918. He married Dora Colvin in May 1922. He was manager of the Market Basket, Victory American Store and Red & White, from which he retired in 1960. He was a part time meter reader for the Village of Pulaski after his retirement. Mr. Barr was a sexton of the Baptist Church for a number of years, where he was a member and also superintendent of Sunday school for 20 years. He was a member of the church choir. Mr. Barr was also a member of Pulaski Lodge 415 F. & A. M; Robert Edwards Post 358, American Legion. Surviving besides his wife, is a son, William T. Barr Jr. of Liverpool; two grandsons; a brother, George E. Ban of Watertown and several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Pulaski Baptist Church. The Rev. Jerry Miller, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Virgil Hager, pastor of Sandy Creek Baptist Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Pulaski. Calling hours at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home are Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friends may contribute in Mr. Barr's memory to the Northern Oswego Medical Center, Pulaski.
