    • Newspaper Obituary - June 16, 1984 Syracuse Herald Journal - Syracuse, New York - Vernon H. Sperling - PARISH - Vernon H. Sperling, 63, of Altmar, died Thursday night at Crouse-Irving Memorial Hospital in Syracuse after a lengthy illness. He returned four years ago to the Parish area, where he was born, after living in California for 35 years. His wife, the former Irene Bates, died in 1980. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Russell Horning American Legion Post 601. Surviving are a daughter, Jeanette Mae Wilbur of Altmar; two grandchildren: a brother. Wesley of Parish; and a sister. Edith Perry of Parish. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Harter-Olmstead Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
