    • I'm 87 and my daughter is typing. I'm not very good on the computer.
Here's what I think about how we are related. My Grandpa John Baumann was a brother to Maude's dad. His name was George, but we always called him Uncle Dode. They all lived around Bagley. Came from Hayfield MN. My mom (Emma) remembers when Maude was a little kid and left Hayfield in a covered wagon - Maude said "I'm the biggest frog in the puddle"! I have pictures from Maude's diary that she drew when she was just 14. I also have a picture of Maude teaching school in an old country school in Bagley from 1902. It hung in a local Bagley restaurant for many years. (A picture of Grace is also on that schoolhouse picture. If I get an address from you - I can have my daughter make some copies and send to you if you would like them.) Maude was a fantastic poet. She was born in 1884 and died in Bagley at 104. That's a little different than the date you show above. I remember your dad Alvin's twin sisters very well - they were Winnie and Linnie. They left Bagley and I don't know as much about them. My data shows Maude married Israel Otto Arney in 1904. They had six children George, Harold, Randall, Alvin and twins Winnie and Linnie Over the years, Maude wrote poetry that expressed her deep faith and love for family and friends. The poems in the book I have were selected from notes and clippings of more than 90 years. Her Nephew Archie Baumann put the book together. I'm wondering if you knew any of this about Maude. I don't know anything about your dad really or when or why he moved away. I could go on for a long time but I'd rather write you letters. More my generational thing to do if you care to share an address. That's the best way to continue any conversation. We don't look often at the computer and was surprised to see your message. My dad was George Anderson and he married John Baumann's daughter Emma. (John was a brother to Maude's dad) John was married to Nellie Langworthy and their kids were Emma, George, Bessie, Jessie, Mildred, Mable and Harley. Emma and George (my parents) had 9 children and I am number 8. They were Goldie, Wallace, Pearl, Ruby, Florence, Ruth, Delpha, (Orphie - that's me), and Lionel.

If you aren't confused by now - you should be HA ! Good to meet you cousin (if indeed that's what you call us at this point).

Pretty cute Huh? It was nice hearing from you and I will let you know if I get any inside scoops on our common grandparents. My name is Juanita Arney Rose and I live in Ohio and it is nice to meet you
