    • Newspaper Article - Wednesday, August 1, 1900 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Personal - Mr. and Mrs. William C. Orton, of Richland, has issued invitations to the marriage of their daughter, Minnie B. to Rev. Charles C. Hutchens, Wednesday afternoon, August 8, at four o'clock.

Newspaper Article - Wednesday, August 15, 1900 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Wedding at Richland - August 8th was looked forward to with great pleasure by two very worthy young people, for some time. Other friends felt sure that there would come a happy event, for, of course it was in the logical way of matters; but when the dainty cards bearing the invitation, stating that "Mr. and Mrs. William Orton desire the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter, Minnie B. to Rev. Charles Hutchens," then all invited ones looked forward to the same date with great pleasure also. The day proved an exceedingly warm one but very pleasant otherwise. At three o'clock the guests began to arrive from north, south, east and west until it did seem that everybody was to be there. Four o'clock soon came and then the guests were all invited to the parlors where the crowning event was about to take place. All whispers ceased as the organ sounded the wedding march and soon the bridal party came down the stairs. Pretty little Bessie Harmon, a niece of the bride, led the way strewing flowers in the past as she proceeded with Rev. W. H. Seed next Mr. M. Hutchens, of Fernwood, brother of the groom, who acted as best man, with the bride leaning upon his arm. They were followed by the groom with Miss Lydia Orton, sister of the bride, upon his arm. The party took place under an arch and with a very neat and impressive service, Rev. W. H. Seed pronounced them "man and wife." During the next hour congratulations and best wishes were showered upon the happy pair. The bride wore a costume of straw color and drab silk, trimmed with white silk, and canied white carnations. The bridesmaid wore a lavender gown and carried dark carnations and the flower girl was lovely in white. Luncheon was served in courses. Mr. and Mrs. Hutchens left on the evening train in a shower of rice. Guests were present from Oswego, Syracuse, Mexico, Pulaski, Orwell, Redfield, Lacona and Femwood. Regrets were received fi-om several friends unable to be present. The presents were numerous and valuable, consisting of a fine variety of silverware, table linen, bedding, carpets, books, lamps, etc. Quite a sum of money was also presented. Mr. and Mrs. Hutchins met several years ago when both were students of the Pulaski Academy from which they graduated. Mr. Hutchens is a graduate of the Louisville Theological Seminary, and for the past year has had the charge of a very fine church at Ponca, Nebraska. He is a very worthy and preserving young man and has done a good work. Mrs. Hutchins has taught with success in the graded schools of Richland and Redfield. She has been a great help in the various departments of church work and C. E. society. They will go to the home in the west about September 1.
