      A graveside service following cremation for Ronald R. Towles, 67, of 131 Lilac Park Drive, will be in Ellisburg Cemetery at the family's convenience.

      Mr. Towles died Monday afternoon at his home, where he had been under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.

      Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville.

      Mr. Towles retired from Queens Farms in 1993, after 35 years, because of ill health.

      He was a member of the Teamsters Union and enjoyed gardening and NASCAR. In earlier years, he enjoyed local stock-car racing and was a member of the pit crew for Bud Clark of Adams.

      Born Jan. 28, 1938, in the town of Ellisburg, a son of Frank and Mabel Hess Towles, he attended Belleville Central School and worked at various jobs in the area before going to work in 1958 at Queens Farms milk plant in Pierrepont Manor.

      He married Bonnie R. Scoville on March 17, 1961, at Belleville Methodist parsonage with the Rev. Miles L. Hutchinson officiating.

      Surviving besides his wife are a daughter and her husband, Rebecca S. and William Crawford Jr., Mannsville; two sons and their wives, Robert R. and Tammie L., Adams Center, and Peter S. and Bonnie G., Adams; four brothers, Donald, Watertown, Ralph and Raymond, both of Adams, and Allen, Belleville; four sisters, Ruby Jackson and Shirley Stewart, both of Watertown, Ruth Peters, Adams Center, and Rosemary Hedger, Adams, 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

      Two sisters, Iva Bartlett and Eva Sochia, and four brothers, Francis, Alfred, John and Bert, died before him.
