Hazel Lester Babcock, 75, of 7810 County Route 178, died Wednesday at Colorado Springs, Colo.
A resident of Henderson for more than 50 years, Mrs. Babcock owned Harbor Builders and was a former member of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce.
Born April 28, 1921, at Richland, daughter of Hobert and Catherine Bennett Lester, she graduated from Pulaski Academy. She married Ralph H. Babcock on June 7, 1941, at her parents' home. The marriage ended in divorce in 1985.
She was a member of Henderson United Methodist Church, former president of Henderson Board of Education, former treasurer and matron of Henderson Chapter 310, Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of Belleville Eudora Chapter 136, OES.
Surviving are two sons, Ralph Lester, Henderson, and Bruce, Dallas, Texas; three daughters, Juanita, Norwood, Ferne Hoffman, Colorado Springs, and Linda Babcock-Sudkamp, Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Mildred Minot, Richland, Dorothy Schryver, Mannsville, and Irma Chapman, Memphis, Tenn.; four grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The body was cremated, and the funeral will be private. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery.
