- Newspaper Obituary - August 7, 1940 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - William B. Montondo, 62, life long resident of this vicinity, and one of the oldest members of the Ringgold Volunteer Fire Department, died suddenly from a heart attack Saturday. Mr. Montondo who rode the fire truck in the field day parade, early in the afternoon, and had aided in directing traffic during the day, had just wheeled his invalid wife to the south park to enjoy the evening band concert. Suddenly leaving his wife he sat down on a park, bench but immediately slid to the ground. Dr. A. B. Thompson was called but Mr. Montondo was dead by the time he arrived. Mr. Montondo was born July 4, 1878, in the town of Albion, the son of the late William and Mrs. Anna Montondo. After farming for a number of years he settled in this village and had been working as a carpenter. Funeral services were held Tuesday at his late home on Bridge street. Rev. Gardner officiated and burial was in Dugway cemetery. Members of the Ringgold Fire Company attended the funeral in full dress. Mr. Montondo is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence Montondo; a son, Harold, his mother, Mrs. Anna Montondo, and one sister, Mrs. Chas. Spencer, all of Pulaski.
