- Newspaper Article - Thursday, November 2, 1944 - Fulton Patriot - Married Fifty Years - Mr. and Mrs. Frank Allen of Phillips street, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Tuesday at a gathering at their home. They were wed at Munnsville on Oct. 31, 1894. Mrs. Allen being the former Miss Cora Thurston. They are parents of 12 children, 11 of whom are living - Howard Allen of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Sgt. Frank Allen, with the army in Saipan; Pfc. Martin Allen, recently returned from New Guinea after 36 months service which he was wounded twice and was awarded the purple heart, oak leaf cluster and soldier's medal; Pvt. Albert Allen, in France; Sgt. Harry Allen, overseas, and S l c Donald Allen, who has been around the world with the navy; Mrs. Ruth Minor, Mrs. Elsie London and Mrs. Alice Himes of Fulton; Mrs. Eda Killmore of Syracuse, and Mrs. Freda Weland of Phoenix. Mr. and Mrs. Allen have 28 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. The four grandchildren in the service are Pvt. William Allen, with the army in the Pacific area; S 2-c Howard Allen Jr., overseas; Pvt. William Minor, in California, and Pvt. Harold Kilmore, at Fort Bragg, N.C.
Newspaper Article - (Source unknown) 1946 - Fulton - Mr. and Mrs. Frank Allen of 618 Hannibal st., were guest of honor at a party given by their daughters, Mrs. Ruth Miner and Mrs. Elsie London, in honor of their 52d anniversity. The couple were married in 1894 in Phoenix. Mrs. Allen was the former Cora Thurston of Stockbridge. Mr. Allen retired from the Dilts Machine Works after working there for 25 years. He now passes his time farming his two acres on Hannibal st. Mrs. Allen does her own housework. The Allens have 11 children. Five of their sons were in the second World Ware and their oldest son was in the first World War. There are five daughters. At the anniversity celebration the following were present: Mr. and Mrs. Neal Killmore, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Wiant, Mr. and Mrs. Jack London, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Clar Case, Miss Virginia Simons, Miss Gertrude Foster, and Miss Lois Ennis, Mrs. Ruth Miner, Frank Allen Jr., Mrs. Alice Himes, Howard Allen and Martin Allen. The Allens have 30 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
